The 5 Street Style Basics for Paris
Today on the blog we're talking about how to pack for a week-end in Paris. As many of you know European airlines are probably worse on their rules for carry-ons than American airlines, for starters the "official" carry on size is not the same as the American size. Secondly, most airlines now want you to fit your purse or any extra belongings into your suitcase, making it a single very tightly fitted item. Basically they're leaving you to wear everything you would wear during your trip…on your flight.
Which brings me to today's post, I have found these rules apply to several weekend trips in general, but regardless I leave you with my essential street style basics for a trip to Paris.
The Over the Knee Boots : these have been trending everywhere and I make sure that I pack them for the cold weather months in Paris. I love these from Zara with heels, but below you can also find the one's I got from Public Desire with no heels, perfect for walking all around the city.
2. The Subtle Pops of Color: generally, street style in Paris never includes a very bright pop of colors, but if you manage to find pastel shades and combine them subtly with a neutral outfit…you're set. Here my violet colored jacket from Free People was a lifesaver during the cold days of the winter, I added my favorite rose pink scarf from ASOS and my extremely warm and cozy beanie from Uniqlo.
3. Moto/Bomber jacket: this isn’t your typical Moto jacket but it is a very comfortable alternative to thicker jackets for when spring begins to show up in Paris. My Bordeaux colored jacket goes great with the wine you can try while in Paris ;). Combined with a peplum style skirt from Zara, my Banana Republic Jacket was styled with the over the knee boots from Public Desire.
4. Designer Purse: a key item, no matter the size, is a nice purse that says quality and style. I love my Furla purse because not only is the color neutral enough to wear year-round, it is also the ideal size for traveling. Here I'm wearing it with yet another "subtle" pop of color with a rose-colored blazer from Zara and the renowned "baskets" trend in Paris where most people add tennis shoes like the one's below from Massimo Dutti to their outfits…because let's be real…comfort is key. Most girls in the city will be sporting some of the local brands like Longchamp, Lancel, and Vanessa Bruno to name a few.
5. The Leather Jacket: this is probably the item that never fails when visiting the city of lights. I love this style because it instantly changes an outfit from simple to rock, edgy, styled, so on. You can wear it with practically anything and can style it for a casual day out and about or a party night. This jacket is a classic from the Zara collection and one of my current favorite wardrobe pieces. Here I am wearing it with a Mango blouse, Zara skinny grey jeans, my OTK boots from Public Desire and a purse from Bimba & Lola.
From street style to carry-on comfort, these are some of my favorite pieces to be on point and blend in to the trends of the fashion capital. Ultimately I have found that less is more and you can play mix-and-match with all the essentials.
Now you are all set for Paris!
Till next time,
